Cardiff Devils Players Pay Tribute To Team-Mate Chris Culligan

Chris Culligan, Cardiff Devils versatile forward, earned the respect of his team-mates over the 2016-17 season.

They voted Culligan player’s player of the year and he received the trophy during the club’s awards night at Cottrell Park Golf Club.

The Canadian has an ability to switch effortlessly between forward and defence which made him a crucial player in their quest for Elite League honours.

Devils have already won three trophies and are now focused on the end-of-season play-offs.

Layne Ulmer was named coach’s player of the year by Andrew Lord.

Joey Haddad, Andrew Hotham, Mark Richardson, Mark Louis, Joey Martin and Ben Bowns were other players who won awards.

Defenceman of the year: Andrew Hotham and Mark Richardson shared this award, presented by Paul Willouby from Flybe

Fan favourite Ben Bowns, presented by Ken Picton from Ken Picton Salon & Shaun Armstrong from Glasshouse

Unsung hero: Mark Louis, presented by Tim & Will Mahoney from Premier Taxis

Leading scorer: Joey Martin, presented by Sam Sayce from Manic Mechanics

Anthony Hard Memorial Award: Charlotte Harris (Junior Devils and Team GB) presented by William, Alison and Reagan Hard

Service to the club: Richard Murray (photographer), presented by Neil Francis

Red Army Travel Player of the Year: Joey Haddad, presented by Johnathan Williams, Gerald Davies and Paul Hinton from Red Army Travel

Coach’s player of the year: Layne Ulmer, presented by Andrew Lord along with Radisson Blu’s Anne Miles, Paul Evans & Jean Marc Poumel

Player’s Player of the Year: Chris Culligan, presented by teammate Joey Haddad and Chris Harvey from Jelf Insurance
