Bluebirds Sell Striker To Strasbourg On Four Year Contract

Cardiff City striker Idriss Saadi has signed for French club Strasbourg on a four-year deal.

He had one year left on his contract with the Bluebirds, who have received an undisclosed fee for Algerian international Saadi.

The powerful, stocky striker fired 16 goals in 35 appearances on loan for Belgian club KV Kortrijk last season and returned to Cardiff for pre-season.

There is no doubt Saadi is behind Kenneth Zohore, Danny Ward and Lee Tomlin in terms of playing regularly for the first team and manager Neil Warnock decided to let him go when Strasbourg offered a fee.

Saadi started and scored twice in Cardiff’s 7-2 win over AFC Tavistock on Monday, but he left the pre-season tour to Cornwall and newly-promoted Strasbourg Alsace announced they have signed him.

He made two first team appearances for Cardiff, making his debut for the Bluebirds against Reading in November 2015.

A statement issued by the Bluebirds said: “Cardiff City FC can confirm that Idriss Saadi has completed a permanent transfer to Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, subject to international clearance and for an undisclosed fee.

“We’d like to wish Idriss the best for the future.”
