Leaders Caernarfon See Off Airbus Challenge At The Oval

Caernarfon Town powered to a 3-0 home win against Airbus Broughton at the Oval.

Leaders Caernarfon are chasing promotion in the Huws Cymru Alliance and are right on course after their win against second-placed Airbus.

Darren Thomas fired the Cofis in front after 13 minutes and Jamie Breese added a second just before half-time. Rhys Roberts added the third to clinch victory.

Only three Alliance fixtures were played on Saturday with the rest falling victim to weather conditions.

Rhyl won 2-1 against Flint Town United after a goalless first half.

Arron Pomeyie fired Rhyl in front, Mark Cadwallader equalised for Flint and Phil Marsh netted to settle the encounter in Rhyl’s favour

Gresford Athletic led 3-0 after 18 minutes in their match at home against Llandudno Junction and went on to score eight goals.

Max Peate, Owen Roberts and Mike Latham scored those first three goals and Gresford added another five in the second half.

Latham took his tally to four with Peate (2) and Jake Eyre completing their tally.

Matt Evert scored Junction’s consolation a minute from time.

Denbigh Town scored five goals in their Friday fixture against Holyhead Hotspur.

Kristian Pierce scored the only goal of the first half and Holyhead equalised six minutes after the break when Jamie McDaid scored.

Denbigh took control and emerged 5-1 winners with Craig Pritchard (2) and debutant Matt Worrall (2) the scorers.

Huws Gray Alliance results: Caernarfon Town 3, Airbus Broughton 0; Gresford Athletic 8, Llandudno Junction 1; Rhyl 2, Flint Town United 1.

Friday result: Denbigh Town 1, Holyhead Hotspur 1.

Postponed: Caersws v Ruthin Town, Holywell Town v Guilsfield, Holywell Town v Guilsfield, Penrhyncoch v Porthmadog.

Friday: Airbus Broughton v Denbigh Town.

Saturday: Flint Town United v Holyhead Hotspur, Guilsfield v Porthmadog, Holywell Town v Caernarfon Town, Penrhyncoch v FC Queens Park, Rhyl v Caersws, Ruthin Town v Gresford Athletic.
