Big ‘Bordy’ Ready To Lead Cardiff Devils Trophy Charge

Patrick Bordeleau enjoyed a career high when Cardiff Devils won the Challenge Cup and he says: “I’m hungry for more success.”

The 6ft 6ins Canadian, a former NHL forward with Colorado Avalanche, has added a tough, physical presence for Devils in their quest to win four trophies.

“It’s amazing, I hadn’t won anything since I was 15-years-old,” said ‘Bordy’ after Cardiff’s Cup final victory against Sheffield Steelers at Ice Arena Wales.

“What a fantastic feeling it is.

“The most important thing right now, though, is that the job is not over. There are three more trophies we want to win.”

Devils have won the first trophy presented in the 2016-17 Elite League season and are intent on completing a clean sweep.

They are top of the league with six matches left, lead the Erhardt Conference and aim to go into the end-of-season play-offs brimming with confidence.

Head coach Andrew Lord and his Devils play Dundee Stars at home in a League match on Saturday (7pm), while they travel to Sheffield Steelers on Sunday (5pm).

Bordeleau, 30, says he is loving life in South Wales, saying: “Devils are a fantastic club, the guys are great. Everything about playing in Cardiff is spot on – owners, management, fans and the city.

“We all enjoy playing here. Every player knows that if we play our game as a team we can achieve success. We even seem to be better when we are trailing at times and that was the case in the final.

“Devils fans did a great job and made the atmosphere really special. They overpowered Sheffield fans in terms of their noise and sheer passion. That gave the team a massive boost and we thank them for that.”

Devils’ home clash with Stars this Saturday is already a 3,088 sell-out.

Tickets are already selling fast for Cardiff’s remaining three home League games at the IAW after the Dundee clash. The first of those is on Sunday, March 19 v Fife Flyers (6pm), while there are back-to-back home fixtures against Belfast Giants on Saturday, March 25 (7pm) and the following evening (6pm).
