Cardiff Devils In The Rapids Before They Face Clan And The Penguins

Cardiff Devils players hit the rapids – and came out unscathed.

Their white water experience in Cardiff Bay was a major hit and forward Sean Bentivoglio said: “We had a blast.”

Elite League champions Devils have two home fixtures this weekend, taking on Scottish and German opposition.

Captain Jake Morissette and his team can win their first trophy of 2017-18 on Saturday when they take on holders Braehead Clan in the Aladdin Cup (7pm).

Devils will then take on leading German team Krefeld Penguins at Ice Arena Wales on Sunday (6pm).

The team took a day off from on-ice training to hit the water at Cardiff International White Water in Cardiff Bay and Bentivoglio said: “It was so much fun.

“We all had a blast and it was good to do something not hockey related to get to know the new guys.”

“We all said we have to come back and try everything else they have here.”

CIWW has a host of amazing things to experience including white water rafting, indoor surfing, a ropes course and more.

Devils players and staff split into teams and the champions were Joey Haddad, Gleason Fournier, Thomas Murdy, Ben Bowns and Paul Crowder.

Now head coach Andrew Lord and his are focused on their back-to-back home matches this weekend.

Glasgow-based Braehead won the Aladdin Cup last season when their were only two teams competing and they defeated Nottingham Panthers.

Devils have now made it three teams and they have already beaten Panthers 3-1 away.

The trophy winners will be decided this weekend when Lord’s men are at home against Braehead on Saturday and then Panthers host Clan the following evening (4pm).
