The 2017 Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon is approaching a sell-out with the last of the 25,000 entries expected to go in the coming days.
With just over 1,000 general entries remaining, those wanting to take-on the flat, fast and iconic course around the Welsh capital on October 1st are being urged to sign up now to avoid disappointment.
Only 10 percent of the overall capacity remains after the event received unprecedented interest following the success of last year’s 13.1 mile race and IAAF/Cardiff University 2016 World Half Marathon Championships.
The 25,000 limit for this year’s event means 150,000 runners will have taken on the route since it was drawn up five years ago and those interested in securing their place can sign up online at www.cardiffhalfmarathon.co.uk.
Matt Newman, Run 4 Wales CEO, said: “It’s been incredible to see how far the Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon has come since its inception 14 years ago when around 1,500 runners hit the streets around Cardiff.

Once all entries have sold, runners will only be able to enter via one of the race’s official charities, who have reserved a portion of the 25,000 on offer.

The Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathons became the first half marathon in the UK to be awarded the coveted Silver Road Race Label by the IAAF. Supporters will line the streets of the Welsh capital, while BBC Wales will be covering all the action live on Sunday 1st October.
The Cardiff Half Marathon has proven to be a platform for Welsh talent to flourish. The event incorporates the Welsh Half Marathon Championships where Swansea Harrier Dewi Griffiths made his name.
He has since gone onto represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games. British Marathon Champion Josh Griffiths will return to London for the IAAF World Championships this summer after he shocked the running world by completing the London Marathon in 2:14:49, six months on from finishing the Cardiff Half in 66:43.
