Warren Gatland Finally Decides James Davies' Face Fits For Wales . . . And So Does Josh Adams'

James Davies and Josh Adams are the uncapped players included in a 39-man Wales squad named for the Six Nations. Coach Warren Gatland has named Scarlets flanker Davies and Worcester wing Adams for the first time, but there is no place for veteran centre Jamie Roberts. It is a significant breakthrough for Davies as the 27-year-old younger brother of injured Lion Jonathan Davies has long been regarded as a player whose face, or attitude, did not fit with the Wales management.

Former Osprey Tommy Bowe Bows Out

Former Ospreys wing Tommy Bowe has announced he is to retire at the end of the season. Currently out injured with a shoulder problem, Bowe, 33, is arguably Ireland and Ulster’s greatest ever wing, but spent a good chunk of his peak years with the Welsh region. Out of form and suffering a career dip at his native Ulster, Bowe moved to the Ospreys in 2008 and went on to re-ignite his fortunes with 36 tries in 77 appearances.

Wayne Pivac Expects Red Hot Scarlets To Dominate Wales Squad

Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac expects his region to dominate the Wales squad for the Six Nations when it is announced on Tuesday morning at 11am. Warren Gatland is expected to name 37 players for the tournament and Pivac believes almost half of them could come from Parc Y Scarlets. That representation in the national squad could be swelled further next season if George North opts to return to Llanelli from Northampton, with Pivac having confirmed he has held talks with the Lions wing over his national dual contract location.

Giggs: My Proudest Moment

Ryan Giggs reckons being named the Wales manager for the next four years was “the proudest moment of my life”. And the man who made the first of his 64 Welsh appearances as a 17-year-old back in 1991 vowed to win over the fans who have criticised him for missing so many friendlies during his playing career “by winning matches”.

Giggs Has To Win Over Doubters

The appointment of Ryan Giggs as Wales' new manager has not met with universal approval from the fans who remember those missed friendlies when he was a player. Dai Sport's Alun Rhys Chivers is one of the doubters and asks whether it is just a publicity stunt by the FAW.
