Trebles All Round For Chaz As World Superbikes Set For Revamp

Chaz Davies could be racing three times each World Superbikes weekend next season under plans to add a sprint race.

Series organisers are looking to revamp the race schedule from 2019 in an attempt to make the championship even more thrilling for fans.

The new race – shorter than the usual distances – would be held on a Sunday morning.

The first race would remain on a Saturday afternoon with the final race on Sunday afternoon as per the usual schedule.

Daniel Carrera, WorldSBK Executive Director explains: “To bring in a third ‘sprint race’ into the WorldSBK format for 2019 is something we have been planning for a long time now, so we are delighted to see the plans coming together.

“We are committed to bringing exciting races to the fans year on year, and we think the addition of a sprint race will add to the WorldSBK experience.

“We are continuing to work on the final adjustments and hope to bring more details in the near future.”

Davies, battling to finish second in the championship behind already-crowned Jonathan Rea, will compete for  the first time in Argentina this weekend in the penultimate round of 2018. The final races will be in Qatar.
