Devils To Reveal Final Signing Before Aladdin Cup Clash

Cardiff Devils complete their 2018-19 roster when they announce a sixth defenceman during an open evening at Ice Arena Wales on Wednesday.

Head coach Andrew Lord and his Devils will then be ready for their opening match of the new season when they defend the Aladdin Cup this weekend.

There is no doubt in my mind that Lord has already upgraded his team from their 2016-17 and 2017-18 title-winning seasons and are intent on becoming the first club to win three consecutive League championships.

Matt Pope and Sean Bentivoglio celebrate a Cardiff Devils goal against Nottingham last season.

Devils signing on Wednesday is another high end player who will join Ben Blood, Bryce Reddick, Mark Louis, Gleason Fournier and Mark Richardson on the blue line.

Supporters have been invited to the IAW on Wednesday when they will watch an open training session before meeting the players in the main bar.

Lord’s men then travel to Nottingham Panthers on Saturday for the first leg of their Aladdin Cup clash with the return in Cardiff Bay on Sunday.

Devils are holders of the Aladdin Cup, a pre-season competition hosted annually by the Panthers.

These will be the first two games with new Panthers Head Coach Rich Chernomaz behind the bench and a handful of new players added to their line-up.

All four Devils’ new signings revealed so far – Blood, Charles Linglet, Stephen Dixon and Mike Hedden – will play against Panthers and it is hoped the new D-man is also available.

Tickets for Sunday’s home game (6pm face-off) are available via https://cardiffdevils.cloudvenue.co.uk/home or by calling 0800 0842 666.

Lord will lead the hour-long training session at the IAW on Wednesday, starting at 6.30pm, while all new players will be introduced in the bar from 8pm.
