Dragons Ready To Roar In FA Cup Replay

Wrexham goalkeeper Rob Lainton has been immense for Wrexham this season and took his excellent form from league to cup.

Lainton, who is playing for the Dragons on loan from Port Vale, has kept 11 clean sheets in 17 appearances, and shut out Harrogate in the Emirates FA Cup.

Wrexham earned a goalless draw at Harrogate and the teams meet again at the Racecourse this evening (7.45pm) with the reward of an Emirates FA Cup first round tie at Weston-super-Mare.

“It’s really pleasing that we’ve kept another clean sheet,” said Wrexham manager Sam Ricketts. “We just couldn’t quite put one away at the other end.

“Ultimately it was a really solid performance and we just couldn’t find that cutting edge.

“It was a tough game, but we knew it was going to be a tough draw.

“What is really pleasing is that we’ve come to a side doing really well in our league, a free scoring team, and that’s two games now we’ve gone to their place and they haven’t scored against us.

“We’re more than happy with another game. We have a really good squad, really good players. Some couldn’t get on the pitch and they may play Tuesday. That’s the beauty of having such a good squad.

“I’d have liked us to have had a bit more control, but sometimes it’s really hard. Harrogate are a good side, especially at home.”

Ricketts opted for a 4-1-4-1 formation for the match in Harrogate before switching to the regular 4-3-3 when Luke Summerfield was taken off as a precaution at half-time.

The two teams have played each other in Vanarama National League plus cup this season and have gone 180 minutes without scoring a goal.
