Evans Left To Rue Traction Issues In Germany

Elfyn Evans was happy with his sixth place at Rally Deutschland but knows it could have been even better.

The Dolgellau-born driver was battling for fourth at one stage with rivals Juho Hanninen and Craig Breen, but was hit by traction issues.

But the result still left Evans sixth in the World Rally Championship standings just two points behind Dani Sordo.

It was also the best result for DMACK tyres in a Tarmac round of the championship which has three rounds left.

The 28-year-old said: “It’s not been the best of weekends for us, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

“At times the pace was pretty good and we pushed as hard as we could through every stage.

“But there were so many surfaces changes and it’s probably fair to say that we struggled on some of them.

“We’ve made some good progress since Corsica which is a big positive, and the team as a whole have secured a really strong result so we’re looking forward to the next one.”

The next round – Rally Catalunya – starts in Spain on October 5th followed by his home round in Wales.
