Geraint Heading To Japan And China To Close Incredible Season

 

Geraint Thomas will cap his historic season by racing in Japan and China.

The Cardiff-born star will headline the Saitama Criterium in Japan on November 4 as it traditional for the winner of the Tour de France.

Thomas will be joined in Japan for the sixth edition of the race by Spain’s world road race champion Alejandro Valverde along with Vincenzo Nibali, Marcel Kittel and Alexander Kristoff.

The event, which Thomas took part in during the inaugural year in 2013, is organised by Le Tour organisers ASO and is in part a celebration of the year – as well as handing the riders a decent end-of-season bonus.

He will be joined by Team Sky team-mates Ian Stannard, Wout Poels and Jonathan Castroviejo.

Thomas will then line-up at the second Tour de France Skoda China Criterium will will take place on the grounds of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai on November 17.

Thomas will be joined by Slovakian star Peter Sagan in China.

Wales’ double Olympic track champ will be joined by green jersey winner Peter Sagan and Pierre Latour who took the white jersey of best young rider in France in July.

It is a year Thomas can certainly celebrate having become only the first Welshman and only the third Brit in history to win the world’s most famous race.

Thomas, who will parade the Yellow Jersey in the heart of Shanghai, also won the Criterium du Dauphine.
