Tigers Too Strong For Knights

Torfaen Tigers won their second game in a row in the Welsh Premier League but they were given a scare in the first half by a competitive Llanelli Knights side, playing in the first game at senior level after replacing West Wales Raiders in the competition. Llanelli made the best possible start when an Aaron Lewis try and goal gave them a 6-0 lead.

Bridgend Athletic Bid To Defend Title Against Pontypridd

Bridgend Athletic are looking to hold onto their Principality National Youth League title this weekend (Saturday) as they take on Pontypridd at Rodney Parade (7.00pm). Having successfully retained their Ospreys A league crown, the Bridgend side duly saw off Scarlets regional champions Crymych 33-19 in Carmarthen to make it back-to-back finals. If they can hold onto their title it would be the perfect tribute to Bridgend Athletic co-founder Clive Easterbrook, who died earlier this month and was laid to rest this week.

Rob Evans Says Scarlets Are Set On Dublin Mission After Euro Failure

Rob Evans says the Scarlets are driven by a thirst for revenge as they prepare to head back to Dublin next weekend. The Wales prop was a tryscorer as his team outclassed Glasgow, 28-13, at Scotstoun in a devastating display of counter-punching rugby to win their Guinness Pro14 play-off semi-final. It means another visit to the Aviva Stadium for the final, scene of their Pro12 title triumph last year, but where they also came to grief against Leinster, 38-16, in last month's European Champions Cup semi-final.

Lee Selby Promises To Leave Josh Warrington All Washed Up

Wales’ featherweight world champion Lee Selby is confident he will take care of business against undefeated contender Josh Warrington in Leeds on Saturday night. Selby defends his IBF featherweight title at Elland Road, the fifth time the Barry fighter has put his crown on the line. Selby (26-1, 9 KOs) won the title from Evgeny Gradovich with an eighth-round TKO. He has since made four successful defenses, the latest being a unanimous decision over Eduardo Ramirez last December.

Huw Jenkins On Repeat Mode As Gas Supply Runs Out For The Barbecue Man

Huw Jenkins has said it is “vital” Swansea City appoint the right manager following the departure of Carlos Carvalhal – sentiments the club chairman has expressed seven times in the last four years. Carvalhal – the man who often talked about throwing all the meat on the barbecue – finally ran out of gas on Friday. Five days after the club were officially relegated from the Premier League, the Swans issued a statement confirming that the Portuguese’s five-month stay would be extended.

Time For The Scarlets To Move From A Good Team To A Great One

It won’t be long before we find out if the Scarlets’ success last year in bringing home some silverware was a flash in the pan or if the Wayne Pivac plan is going to have some real legs. Only one team in the previous 16 years has been able to make it back-to-back titles, Leinster in 2013 and 2014, and the Scarlets have to get past the 2015 champions, Glasgow Warriors, to stand a chance of holding onto their title. They couldn’t have picked a tougher semi-final task than heading to Scotstoun on Friday night to see if they can head back to the Aviva Stadium to meet either the Champions Cup winners Leinster, or the team they conquered in such style in the Irish capital last year, Munster.
