Mid Wales racing driver Ben Power had to contend with a burst brake line as well as snow, as he launched his campaign in the 2018 National Legends Car Championship with MRF Tyres. In a freezing cold, and at times snowy, opening round at Oulton Park in Cheshire, Power, from Guilsfield, near Welshpool, finished 8th and 6th in the heat races before taking 8th place in the final.

Ryan Giggs Vows A Brave New Young World For Wales

Ryan Giggs is determined to promote young talent in his new role as Wales manager after playing his part in the rise of Marcus Rashford. Giggs was assistant manager at Manchester United when Rashford was handed his debut as an 18-year-old in a 2016 Europa League tie against Danish club Midtjylland. Rashford scored twice after replacing Anthony Martial, who had been injured in the warm-up, and has gone on to star for United and England — and Giggs insists he is keen to give youngsters opportunities on his Wales watch.

Cardiff Blues have confirmed that John Mulvihill has been appointed to take over from Danny Wilson as head coach. It brings to an end a long and winding route for the region who believed they had both Geordan Murphy and Jim Mallinder lined up, only for those appointments to fall through. Following Wilson's decision to move on at the end of the season, the search for a successor was undertaken in conjunction with the Welsh Rugby Union.

Anwen Butten Has This Commonwealth Thing Sewn Up

Bowls is very much a family affair for Anwen Butten, who will be heading to her fifth successive Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. The 45-year-old made her Team Wales debut in Manchester in 2002, when she picked up the first of her two medals to date in partnership with Joanna Weale, and is showing no signs of weakening in her resolve to claim a gold before she retires. Her second medal came in Delhi in 2010, when she struck bronze once again in the women’s pairs in tandem with Hannah Smith. Eight years on, she travels with arguably the most talented Welsh women’s bowls team of all-time in pursuit of gold and glory.
