Jonathan Davies Insists Wales Were Right To Replace Rob Howley With Stephen Jones

Wales centre Jonathan Davies insists it was the right call to bring in Stephen Jones to replace Rob Howley at the World Cup. Assistant coach Howley is now back home following an alleged breach of World Rugby’s betting and anti-corruption regulations, and he faces a detailed investigation. With Howley gone from the camp, 104-times capped former Wales fly-half  Jones will link up with the squad as attack coach in Toyota City on Thursday.

WRU Knew Of Betting Problem A Week Ago. . . But Say Rob Howley Had Already Got On The Plane

The Welsh Rugby Union knew a week ago they had a problem with alleged betting from inside the Wales camp. As the shock waves from the departure of Rob Howley was extending throughout the World Cup in Japan - which begins on Friday - his employers have tried to give an explanation of why the events moved from home to the eve of the tournament itself on the other side of the world. The governing body have revealed they were first made aware of the Wales backs coach's suspected breach of World Rugby’s betting regulations last Wednesday following contact from one of the gambling industry’s integrity teams.

Morris Hopes To Stay With JRM Bentley Team In 2020

Seb Morris hopes to stay with the JRM team in the British GT Championship next season, after finishing seventh in the drivers’ standings after an encouraging first year in the team’s Bentley Continental GT3. “JRM put together a brand new team for this year and they’ve done a superb job, I’m looking forward to hopefully being back with them next year – if they want me,” said Morris. It’s not been the easiest of seasons for the Wrexham-born driver, who endured more misfortune during the final British GT round at Donington Park last weekend. Running 60kg of ballast and less turbo boost, the unfavourable Balance of Performance (BOP) restrains ensured that the JRM Bentley of Morris and team-mate Rick Parfitt Jnr was the slowest GT3 car through the speed traps and consistently slower down on the competition along the straights.

All Bets Are Off For A Smooth World Cup For Wales As Rob Howley Flies Home

Wales’ World Cup plans have been thrown into turmoil after Rob Howley was sent home from Japan. Former Wales captain and scrum-half Howley left Wales’s training camp on Monday following an alleged breach of World Rugby’s regulation six which covers anti-corruption and betting. Howley is understood to have been betting on matches, and has been provisionally suspended from all rugby matter matters until a disciplinary hearing - essentially ruling him out from any participation in the World Cup.
