Cardiff Met Bid For Super Uni Glory At Twickenham

Cardiff Met will shoot for the biggest title in their history when they take on reigning champions Hartpury in the final of the BUCS Super Rugby Championship at Twickenham on Wednesday. Now in its second season, the BUCS Super Rugby competition features the top nine universities in England and Wales. Next season the number will grow to 10 with Cardiff University joining the elite tier. The Archers have won the BUCS Championship in the past, along with Welsh and British Colleges crowns, but the game at Twickenham is a step up. They finished third in the league and then beat Loughborough and Bath University in the play-offs to go all the way to Twickenham.

Rosie Eccles Ready For Anglo-Welsh Scrap For Gold

Rosie Eccles is relishing a good old-fashioned Wales v England dust-up with a gold medal at stake at the Commonwealth Games. Welsh boxer Eccles is through to the final of the women’s 69kg boxing, where she will face familiar foe Sandy Ryan of England. The two fighters met three years ago, when Ryan emerged as the winner. Eccles, 21, who fits out of the Pontypool boxing club, won her semi-final against Kaye Scott of Australia and can now become Commonwealth champion if she beats Ryan on Saturday.

Wales Medal Pair Daniel Jervis And Georgia Davies Set Sights On More Pool Success

Daniel Jervis and Georgia Davies are both targeting more success this year after finishing their Commonwealth Games efforts with hard earned medals for Wales. Part-time painter and decorator Jervis brushed up on his bronze medal in Glasgow four years ago, by taking silver in the men’s 1500m freestyle. Davies claimed a bronze in the women’s 50m backstroke – her third successive Commonwealth medal in three Games for a competitor who always delivers for Wales.
