Tomlin Among Senior Bluebirds Set To Play At Truro

Lee Tomlin is among the senior Cardiff City players likely to figure in Sunday’s pre-season fixture against Truro City in Cornwall.

Manager Neil Warnock will attend the match, which is officially for the under-23 age group, and is mulling over his team with Tomlin, Omar Bogle, Anthony Pilkington, Stuart O’Keefe and goalkeeper Lee Camp all being considered.

All five are on the fringe of Cardiff’s squad and only 25 players can be named in the club’s Premier League squash when the transfer window closes.

Rhys Healey, who scored twice and missed a penalty during Cardiff’s 3-0 win at Taffs Well on Friday, could also be selected.

The match against Vanarama National League club Truro at Treyew Road is the first of seven games to be played during the week-long trip to Cornwall and Devon.

The White Tigers of Truro are the highest ranked club in Cornwall, playing in the sixth tier of English football.

They lost 6-0 against a strong Exeter City team this week, while they have also won 5-1 at Cullompton Rangers and 3-1 against Bodmin Town.

Truro play Swansea City on Wednesday, also at home.

Warnock is taking all of his senior players to Cornwall and Aaron Gunnarsson, who has been on World Cup duty, joins the squad on Monday.

The Bluebirds are still hoping to add Serbian midfield player Marko Grujic on loan, although he has travelled with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad on their tour to America.

The two clubs have verbally agreed loan terms, although a deal won’t be completed just yet and Cardiff have to be patient. A number of clubs are keen on Grujic and Liverpool will wait to see if they receive a big money offer for a full transfer.

Warnock also wants to add a loan striker to his squad.

“Gunnar (Aron Gunnarsson) joins us in Cornwall next week and we hope Marko comes back to us,” says Warnock. “A number of clubs are after him, but he enjoyed it with us last season and Marko flew back from Serbia just for the open top bus tour. I didn’t expect him to do that.”
