Wales manager Jayne Ludlow has included a 15-year-old in her squad for the first stages of their UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 qualification campaign.

Carrie Jones – who plays for Cardiff City Ladies – has been named in a squad of 22 for the matches against Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands.

The midfielder from Newtown is uncapped but has previously trained with the senior squad and had captained Wales at Under 17 level.

Ludlow will be without Wales’ most capped player, Jess Fishlock, after the midfielder suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament whilst playing for her club side Reign FC last month.

Fellow midfielder Rachel Rowe has recovered from an ACL injury of her own and is included in the squad alongside Reading team-mate Angharad James, who was rested for the recent friendly against New Zealand.

Megan Wynne and Elise Hughes, who both signed their first professional deals with Tottenham and Everton respectively, are included in the squad.

After guiding Wales to within touching distance of a place at this summer’s World Cup, captain Sophie Ingle will again lead the the team.

Record goalscorer Helen Ward, Loren Dykes and Natasha Harding are among some of the more experienced names to be included.

Wales travel to Torshavn to take on the Faroe Islands on August 29, before hosting Northern Ireland at Rodney Parade five days later.
