Welsh Premier League Set For End Of Season Awards

Bangor City’s Henry Jones is in the running to win both Player and Young Player of the Year awards having been nominated as one of the three best players in each category.

Jones joined Anthony Stephens (Bala Town) and James Joyce (Llandudno) in being announced as candidates for the Young Player of the Year award before being confirmed as a candidate for the senior award.

Jason Oswell (Newtown), Jon Routledge (The New Saints) and Henry Jones (Bangor City) made the Player of the Year shortlist.

Oswell led the league with 22 goals for Newtown this season while Routledge has established himself as one of the league’s most solid performers since joining The New Saints at the start of the season.

Henry Jones also enjoyed an impressive debut season in the league playing a key-role as Bangor successfully secured European qualification.

The Manager of the Season award saw four nominations.

The New Saints’ championship winning record breaker Craig Harrison is likely to be strong candidate once again this year after winning the same award last season.

League runner-up Andy Morrison (Connah’s Quay), Welsh Cup winning manager Colin Caton (Bala Town) and Huw Griffiths, who steered relegation favourites Cefn Druids to safety following promotion complete the line-up.

The Dafabet Welsh Premier League will celebrate its 25th annual awards on Saturday.
