WPL Deadline Day Could See Flurry Of Activity

The transfer window for the JD Welsh Premier League closes at midnight tonight and if reports are to be believed, it could be a busy day as clubs make their final preparations for Phase 2 of season which commences this weekend.

Title rivals Connah’s Quay and The New Saints are both expected to announce new arrivals at some point today. There could be movement in and out at the Nomads, with a Scottish-based player believed to be within Andy Morrison’s sights as one of two potential new faces at the Deeside Stadium today.

The New Saints remain tight-lipped on their transfer activity although the defending champions are expected to add one more to their squad.

It could also make for a interesting day at surprise league leaders Barry Town. Speculation linking Macaulay Southam-Hales with a dream move to a number of Championship clubs has cooled, while the club have not yet added to this squad this month – with 10 games remaining, does Gavin Chesterfield push to bolster his squad as they make an unlikely push for the WPL title?

Top-six Caernarfon Town will not be among those making last-minute signings. Sean Eardley tells me he is happy with the business his side have already done, with Leo Smith (on loan from Wrexham), Osian Golding and Cai Morgan being added to the Cofis squad this month.

Bala Town could add to their squad with one more signing – it is rumoured former Bangor City and Accrington midfielder Brayden Shaw could be that man.

In the bottom six, Llanelli are believed to have completed their business after completing the signing of left-back Joe Hunt from Merthyr Town.

Bottom side Llandudno have made several signings including veteran striker Les Davies in this current window, but Iwan Williams is not done yet and he is hopeful of adding another two players to his squad today, taking their tally of new arrivals up to seven.

After completing the signing for striker Rio Ahmadi from Aberystwyth last night, Newtown want to finalise one, possibly two, more deals today.

Aberystwyth have already replaced Ahmadi with Marc Williams, who becomes the latest to depart crisis-stricken Bangor City, but Gavin Allen could still be looking to added to his squad on the final day.
