Wrexham's Ben Tollitt has extended his loan spell from Blackpool until January.

Wrexham Captain Shaun: ‘We’re Backing The Gaffer’

Wrexham captain Shaun Pearson insists the Dragons are on a mission to climb the Vanarama National League table.

Manager Bryan Hughes is under pressure from supporters after six games without a win and they are in 19th place, level on points with Saturday’s opponents Aldershot.

Pearson had a one-to-one chat with Hughes this week and says: “I’m sure the manager won’t mind me saying and him and I had a meeting, a long conversation about a lot of things.

“I gave my opinion on things, but what I will say is that personally, and having spoken to other senior players, we are 100 per cent behind the manager.

“That doesn’t mean we agree on everything. That’s natural in football – everybody has opinions. He asked me for my opinions and I gave them.

“Hopefully, moving forward, we’ll start getting the results we want. We are 100 per cent behind him and hopefully that will show with our performance and, hopefully, result on Saturday.

“This is not the first tough period I’ve had in my career. The biggest thing is you have to fight your way through it.

“The manager has been working on things that we’re going to look to do moving forward.”

Wrexham’s broad have proclaimed their full support for Hughes, saying: “From my point of view it is pleasing because I have the backing of the board,” “That gives clarity to the players.

“Don’t get me wrong, we have underperformed this season results-wise and have drawn too many games.

“They are fine margins and is about us turning those draws into wins. This team are capable of doing that.

“That performance against Sutton wasn’t us. It was lethargic and fans aren’t blinded by that. They can see it.

“The brunt of it will come back on me because I am the manager of the team. I pick the team and I accept that.

“Now it is about rectifying it and bringing the group together again. We have had another good week, but come the end of the week, it is all about the result and we need to win games.”

Wrexham, who play Aldershot at their Recreation Ground home on Saturday, have extended the loan stay of Ben Tollitt from Blackpool until January.

The Shots signed Derby County defender Max Hunt and Plymouth Argyle striker Alex Fletcher, both aged 20, on loan.
