Mac Faulkner, Tyson Marsh and Cardiff Devils Pay Tribute To Loyal ‘Richie’

Cardiff Devils fans will pay tribute to loyal defenceman Mark Richardson next month.

This has been a magnificent year so far for ‘Richie’ and Elite League champions Devils are keen to say thank you for 11 years service.

His testimonial will be at Ice Arena Wales on Tuesday, October 24 with former Cardiff captains Mac Faulkner and Tyson Marsh returning to the ice.

Richardson scored Cardiff’s first goal in their historic Champions League victory against HC Davos and produced outstanding work on defence to cut out Swiss danger.

Devils won three trophies last season, including the League title for the first time in 20 years, and Richardson played a key for Great Britain in their golden World Championship success.

“2017 has been a great year,” says Richardson. “We go into every season hoping to win championships, came out with three trophies last time and were one shot away in the play-off final.

“Playing a part for Great Britain in winning the gold medal and earning promotion was another massive high.

“That group has been tricky for us over the years. Winning in Belfast and going back to Division One A, where we wanted to be, was a fantastic achievement for the team.

“Our aim now is to be challenging for promotion again.”

The Swindon-born D-man, 30, was on a high after Devils win against Davos, saying: “This is one of the best Devils wins I’ve experienced in all my time with this club.

“Not many people expected us to win, but the fans were great and it was such a great feeling.”

Richardson’s testimonial will take on a new style. Teams will be selected between returning legends and current Devils by Faulkner and Marsh, the two captains.

The night before the match Devils will host a dinner and draft party where captains will draft their teams for the big game.

The club will put up £1,000 for the winning side to donate to a charity of their choice.

Tickets for Richardson’s game will be on sale from 4pm today (September 5) through the Devils online booking system.

  1. A true workhorse who gives his all and then some a true team player with no ego to boost he plays with his heart and soul for the team each and every game. There are few players who have given as much hard work and support for his fellow team mates and had earned the respect of them and everyone who supports and watches the Devils. Thank you from each and everyone of us
