Canadian Contingent From Calgary Boost Cardiff Devils’ Block 13 Standing Section For Stars Clash

Block 13 at Cardiff Devils’ Viola Arena, a heartbeat standing section intent on firing up the atmosphere, will be boosted by a Canadian contingent during Sunday’s home clash with Dundee Stars.

Calgary-based owners Steve King, Brian Parker and Craig Shostack have flown in to support Devils when they play Manchester Storm away this evening (Saturday) and Stars in Cardiff Bay on Sunday (6pm).

The group, including friends and family, is 15-strong and they will be cheering and signing their way through both fixtures.

Tickets for home clash with Stars are selling fast and it is already close to a sell-out.

Devils are right in the mix for an EIHL challenge and were boosted by Belfast Giants’ 4-2 home win against leaders Sheffield Steelers on Friday, Cardiff are second, five points behind Steelers with five games in hand.

Devils’ owners will host a Q&A session before face-off at the Viola Arena on Sunday, starting at 4.30pm in the main bar.

Manchester moved back into the play-off places when they defeated Devils 4-1 at the Storm Shelter a week ago and the teams battle it out again this evening.

Devils born fed back with a 6-4 home victory against Fife Flyers on Sunday.

 4-1 win against Cardiff and if they can pick up more home points it will help keep the Storm there for tonight at least.

Devils could cut the deficit behind the Steelers to three points with four games in hand if they win against Storm.

“We’ve had a good four to five weeks overall, but now we will need to take ourselves up another gear,” says head coach Andrew Lord. “There are some tough games ahead, starting tonight in Manchester. They have been playing well of late. 

“I wasn’t so happy with our performance there last weekend, but we’ve had a full week of training now to work on a few things.”

There are only three EIHL fixtures on Saturday and the other two are Coventry Blaze v Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars v Guildford Flames.
