Barry Town United Face Long Trip To North Wales

Barry Town United, Cwmamman United and Cwmbran Celtic are among the Southern clubs facing long trips North in the JD Welsh Cup third round.

Welsh Premier League Barry take on Huws Gray Alliance leaders Caernarfon Town at their Oval stadium in North Wales, while Welsh League teams Cwmamman and Cwmbran are away against Bangor City and Connah’s Quay Nomads respectively.

Bangor, who have former Cardiff City coach Kevin Nicholson in charge of their team, are fourth in the Welsh Premier League.

There are nine Huws Gray Alliance sides in the third round and they are Caernarfon, Porthmadog,  Gresford Athletic, Llandudno Junction, Guilsfield, Ruthin Town, Airbus Broughton, Penrhyncoch and Flint Town United.

Porthmadog were highest scorers among Alliance teams, beating FC Penly 10-0. Sion Bradley netted a hat-trick.

Llandudno Junction recorded their second win of the season and it came against the only team they had beaten before, Denbigh Town. Junction won 3-2 after extra time, but had to come from behind to earn victory.

Penrhyncoch travelled South to face Caerphilly Athletic and won 4-2.

Manager Rhys Griffiths and his Penybont team will welcome Cardiff Met University to their Bridgend ground, while Pontypridd Town entertain fellow Welsh League club Haverfordwest County.

Wales goalkeeper coach Tony Roberts and former international Danny Gabbidon assisted with the JD Welsh Cup third round draw draw and ties will be played over the first weekend in December.
