Battling Wales Fight Back To See Off Scotland In a Shoot-Out

Wales 2 Scotland 2 (Wales win shoot-out 4-2)

Wales twice battled back to beat Scotland 4-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to maintain their perfect record in World League Rd 2.

Coach Zak Jones’ side followed up their victory over Poland in Saturday’s opener in Belfast to see off their Celtic rivals.

But it was a hard-fought battle with keeper David Kettle in fine form throughout the game, which ended 2-2, and the shoot-out.

The Scots took the lead through Edward Greaves after just four minutes of the Pool B encounter.

Cardiff&Met’s Ben Carless levelled within two minutes but Scotland were ahead ahead after just eight minutes through Alan Forsyth.

And that’s the way it stayed until the 52nd minute when Surbiton’s Gareth Furlong – who scored against Poland – struck the equaliser.

Lewis Prosser, winning his 100th cap, Liam Brignull, Owain Dolan Gray and Ben Francis all scored in the shoot-out to clinch a fine win.

Wales will now face France – who they beat in recent test series in Paris – in their final Pool game on Tuesday.
