Mick McCarthy is now under intense pressure as Cardiff City manager after admitting concerns about his own fans chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ during the Bluebirds 4-0 defeat to West Brom on Tuesday.
The result follows Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Blackburn and means the Bluebirds have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions.
“The away fans singing it at me doesn’t bother me one bit. But the home fans doing it? That’s a completely different ball game,” said McCarthy.
“I can’t say we don’t deserve it, because we aren’t playing well.
“I hope this is where my experience comes in, because otherwise I will be struggling.
“Whether we get back to the form of last year I don’t know but we need to try.

“I fully understand the fans’ feelings and have no complaints.
“I share their frustrations, It’s not like us and it’s certainly not like us from last season.
“My message is that everybody, myself first and foremost, will be working as hard as we can to turn it around.
“And so will the players. The players are bitterly disappointed in there as you’d expect.
“They feel that it’s not good enough and we’ve got to turn it around.”

Cardiff failed to register a single shot on target against the Baggies and many fans were left bewildered at the team McCarthy selected for the game.
He chose to play five central defenders and left out all of Cardiff’s full-back’s in Perry Ng, Tom Sang and Joel Bagan.
Kieffer Moore was confined to the substitutes bench and he also persisted with the under performing Leandro Bacuna.
Cardiff now face Reading at home on Saturday in a match that both the players and McCarthy can’t afford to lose.
