Comeback Guys Shine In Cardiff Devils Success

The comeback guys had a remarkable evening for Cardiff Devils at Ice Arena Wales.

Justin Faryna, Joey Haddad and Paul Crowder linked up and tormented Sheffield Steelers during a 4-1 Devils victory.

Tonight (Sunday), Cardiff’s elite are focused on earning a seventh successive win when Braehead Clan from Glasgow are in Cardiff Bay (6pm).

Faryna returned to the team after injury, while Haddad is a few weeks into his comeback. Crowder, running into top form, slotted in seamlessly alongside his linemates.

They went head-to-head against Sheffield’s danger line – Andreas Valdix, Levi Nelson and Robert Dowd.

There is no doubt which trio came out on top with the Cardiff line scoring all four Devils goals.

They scored nine points between them with Faryna returning two goals and two assists.

“It was a tough match-up,” said Faryna. “Hats off to Paul and Joey. We found some chemistry out there.

“They bring speed, big bodies. We get to the net, get pucks to the net and love to score those no so pretty goals out in front.”

Devils stand joint top of Elite League, level on points with Belfast Giants. Coach Andrew Lord’s team have two games in hand.

Clan are hurting after their 5-3 home defeat against Guildford Flames on Saturday when they blew a 3-1 lead.

It was the fourth loss in a row for the Scottish side, with goaltender Ryan Nie admitting the third period effort had not been good enough from the Clan as Guildford scored four straight goals to secure the victory during the final frame.

Lord looks certain to be on the bench again this evening, while injured pair Mark Louis and Josh Batch are close to fitness.

Craig Moore is the only long-term injury absentee.
