Connah’s Quay have today confirmed that Neil Gibson has been appointed as the first-team coach, a day after he resigned from his position as manager of Prestatyn Town.
Gibson’s resignation was confirmed by Prestatyn on Wednesday night bringing an end to his 14 year tenure at the club.
Gibson will join Connah’s Quay manager Andy Morrison’s backroom staff alongside highly rated Director of Football Jay Catton.
Morrison said “I am delighted to welcome Neil to the Club. He has an in-depth knowledge of Welsh football and has done an incredible job at Prestatyn Town, bringing through and nurturing young talent. With our Club’s transition to a full-time status the profile of the players we will be working with will change.
I have no doubt that alongside myself and Jay [Catton], that Neil will play a major part in developing the talented young full-time squad we are assembling and aim to have that in place for the start of the 2018-19 season.”
Prestatyn Town have made no further announcement in regards to their first team management following Gibson’s departure.
Gibson is expected to be in the dugout for Connah’s Quay’s Welsh Cup tie against Porthmadog on Saturday.
