Jenkins Says Swansea Looking To Swoop In Transfer Market

Swansea City are targeting at least three new players before the start of the season says chairman Huw Jenkins.

Top of the shopping list is likely to be a couple of strikers with the Swans having offloaded several in the summer.

Alberto Paloschi returned to Italy, Eder’s loan move to Lille was made permanent and Bafetimbi Gomis’ days at the Liberty Stadium look numbered.

The Swans have signed centre-back Mike van der Hoorn, midfielder Leroy Fer and goalkeeper Mark Birighitti so far this summer.

They insist they remain keen on former midfielder Joe Allen though the Welsh international looks to be edging closer to a £13million move from Liverpool to Stoke.

But it is up front where boss Francesco Guidolin will have to strengthen before the Premier League campaign kicks-off at Burnley.

And that is before any potential swoops for Andre Ayew and Gylfi Sigurdsson whose goals saved the Swans from relegation last season.

Jenkins said: We’ve talked a lot about football and we’ve got a few options in mind.

“I think it was always going to be a case of moving players out before we moved players in, especially with the Euros finishing late and then so called bigger clubs moving players around.

“We’ll try and feed off some of them, get some deals that suit us, get them in at the right place and try and work those things as we always do.

“In the next few weeks we will bring some players in.

“It’s pretty obvious we need one, maybe two strikers and another player. Three is probably the minimum.

“We also have to make sure we keep the squad we’ve got.
