Kor Blimey Says Swansea City’s Smith, Watch Us Fly After The Break

By Gareth James

Korey Smith says Swansea City will be raring to go after the international break and determined to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

The Swans are sixth in the Championship but just three points off table-toppers Reading 11 games into the season.

And Smith reckons City’s solid defence and the threat of players like Andre Ayew will make them a danger to any side.

“We now have a brief break from fixtures, but we’ll come back raring to go because you have to be at it each game in this division,” Smith told swansea.com.

“Particularly with two-game weeks, a few good results can really help your league position and the confidence of the team.”

“But I think we’ve started the season well and have shown what we are about.”

The Swans lost at relegated Norwich City 1-0 going into the international break having drawn at last season’s play-off finalists Brentford in midweek.

But Smith, who joined the Swans on a free transfer from Bristol City, insists those results could have been better.

“At Norwich, we didn’t deserve to lose that game, but we’re still playing well and that’s important because we know we’re doing the right things,” he added.

“The result could easily have been different.

“In the 11 games we’ve played, I feel we’ve looked solid defensively and we’ve been dangerous going forward, so it bodes well.

“Even in the games we’ve lost, we’ve created chances and played positively.”
