Latalia Bevan And Maisie Methuen Finish At Sixes And Sevens

There was little to split Welsh team mates Latalia Bevan and Maisie Methuen as they finished sixth and seventh respectively in the all-round section of the artistic gymnastics.

Methuen notched the highest mark of the competition on the beam, an event at which she is the British champion, with a score of 13.30, while Bevan was second highest on floor with a similar mark. Only the champion, Canada’s Elsabeth Black with 13.45, beat her.

In the end the talented Welsh duo ended tied on 52.550, with Bevan being given sixth place on countback. They will both now chase medals in the individual events, starting with the uneven bars on Sunday and the beam on Monday.

Holly Jones appears in the vault final and Emily Thomas will join Bevan on floor. Josh Cook finished 13th in the Men’s all-round event and Jac Davies will appear in the floor and pommel finals, with Iwan Mepham taking part in the parallel bars final.
