Marchant de Lange Signs Up For Glamorgan

Glamorgan bowler Marchant de Lange has vowed to take more wickets for the county after signing a new two-year deal.

The South African has extended his contract until the end of the 2021 season after taking 76 wickets in 22 Championship matches as well as spearheading Glamorgan’s T20 bowling attack.

De Lange, 28, said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to sign a new deal and commit my future to Glamorgan.

“I have been able to find a second home in Cardiff, and I have loved being a part of the team environment.

“I feel like I am really starting to find my feet here, and I hope I can continue to take lots more wickets for the club in the years to come.”

The former South African Test player helped Glamorgan reach T20 Finals Day in 2017 taking 18 wickets in the competition and was the Welsh county’s top wicket-taker during this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup campaign with 16 dismissals.

Glamorgan director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “It’s excellent news Marchant has signed an extension with the club.

“He gives us that X-factor with his extra pace, and is a wicket taking bowler in both red and white-ball cricket.

“I think the exciting thing about Marchant is that he is still developing, he’s eager to learn and is totally committed to the club’s direction moving forward.”
