Merthyr Town Add Two New Signings To Their Southern League Squad

Merthyr Town have strengthened their Southern League squad with two signings.

Manager Gavin Williams has recruited Kyle Copp and Eliot Richards, who has signed for the Martyrs at the end of his loan agreement from Weston-super-Mare.

Merthyr hope to have both players available for the Premier Division home match against Redditch United at Penydarren Park on Monday, January 2 (3m).

International clearance must be granted before they can play for their new club.

Richards, who made his Martyrs debut against Biggleswade in October, had been on loan from Weston and will now be staying. He has scored twice, against Cinderford and St Neots, in 15 appearances.

Copp, 20, played for Swansea City until the summer of 2016 and then signed for Yeovil Town.

The former Wales under-17 international made only one appearance for the Somerset club.

“I’m delighted Eliot has agreed to commit himself to us beyond his loan deal and that Kyle has agreed to join us from Yeovil,” said Manager Williams. “These players have the quality to help take us forward.”

Merthyr, who are fourth in the Premier Division table, follow the home match against Redditch on Monday by travelling to Cirencester Town on Saturday January 7.

Their remaining fixtures in January will then be: v Hitching Town (home, Saturday 14), v Kettering Town (away, Saturday 21), v King’s Lynn (home, Tuesday 24), v Banbury (home, January 28).

Entry prices at Penydarren Park: Adults £10; Senior Citizens (65 and over) plus Cardiff City and Swansea City season ticket holders £8; Students (16 to 18-years-olds) £7; Under 16’s £1; Under six-years-old Free.
