Lauren Has Bronze In The Bag But Gold Is The Aim In Minsk

Lauren Price is aiming to take the next step towards the gold medal when she returns to the ring at the European Games in Minsk on Friday night.

Wales’ Commonwealth games champ may have been late to the party, not having her first bout until Wednesday in the Belarus capital.

But she didn’t waste any time ensuring herself of a bronze medal at least after dispatching Ireland’s Aoife O’Rourke (5-0).

Next up in the semi-finals of the middleweight (-75kg) category is Russia’s Darima Sandakova.

“It’s nice to get the first one out of the way, everyone’s had a box on the team and I was the last one so it’s nice to get in there, the first one’s always the hardest,” said the Bargoed-born fighter

“Obviously, I’m guaranteed a medal now, so I’ll push on to Friday in the semi-final. I felt good, fitness was fine. I’ll go back now, speak to the team, go through the video and work on things for Friday.”
