By Paul Jones

Wales have postponed Wednesday’s squad announcement for this month’s three internationals amid a report that manager Ryan Giggs had been arrested.

The Sun reported that the ex-Manchester United player, 46, had been questioned then released pending inquiries by police on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault.

It was alleged the inquiries related to an incident with his girlfriend Kate Greville.

A statement from the Football Association of Wales read: “The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the men’s national team manager Ryan Giggs.

“The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time.”

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman, quoted by The Sun, said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance.

“A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

Giggs was due to announce his squad by a zoom call for the friendly with the USA and the Nations Cup games with the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

The Welsh FA said in an earlier statement, “The squad announcement scheduled for tomorrow will no longer take place and has been postponed.”
