Swans’ Jess Williams Close To Return After Shattering Injury

Swansea City Ladies star Jess Williams is close to fitness after recovering from a serious knee injury.

The Wales U19 defender has not played this season after fracturing her right knee joint last summer.

It has been a long road back, but Williams is now within weeks of a return to action and said: “To step up my rehab feels great, as being injured is never easy and every day I’m one step closer to being back on the pitch.

“I was lucky as my injury could have been a lot worse but my rehab is on track and I’m heading in the right direction.

“Injuries are always hard to deal with but for me personally, I’ve seen it as a challenge as I will be back stronger, both mentally and physically.

“Being around the medical staff at Swansea has been a massive boost as they are very encouraging and understanding that it’s a frustrating and hard road back.”

The return of former Cyncoed player Williams is a boost for Swans Ladies manager Ian Owen, whose side currently sit third in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
