Tutton On Course For More European Championships Medal Success

Chloe Tutton had little time to rest on her European Championships bronze medal laurels as she was back in the pool in London on Thursday.

The Pontypridd star bagged the first major medal of her career after breaking her personal best for the 100metres breaststroke on Wednesday night.

And little over 12 hours later Tutton returned for her main event – the 200m breaststroke – to clock the second quickest time of the heats.

The only woman to swim faster was Tutton’s fellow Brit Molly Renshaw who touched first in two minutes 24.70 seconds.

The 19-year-old had led going into the final turn but headed for home just trailing Renshaw and finished second in 2:24.70.

But the times were immaterial with progressing to Thursday night’s semi-finals – when Jazz Carlin goes for glory in the 800m freestyle – the main target.

Tutton’s time was over three seconds off the British record she set when smashing her personal best at last month’s national championships in Glasgow
