No Bubbles For Morris After Disappointing Spa Treatment

The bad luck that has impeded Seb Morris in this year’s British GT Championship continued at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on Sunday, when two penalties and a tyre blow-out on his Bentley Continental GT3 ruined any hopes of a champagne-spraying podium finish. With his JRM team-mate Rick Parfitt Jnr having to serve a stop/go penalty early in the 120-minute race following contact with a Lamborghini, a second penalty had to be served during hour two after officials deemed the mid-race pit-stop to have been fractionally too short. Incredibly, a puncture with around 20 minutes to run added real insult to injury and necessitated a third unscheduled stop. Wrexham-born Morris eventually went on to take the chequered flag in an exasperating 12th position.

Series Leader Cole Now Aims To Close In On Epynt Record

Damian Cole has extended his lead in the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship to 32 points, after a fantastic drive on the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally. The Abergavenny driver started a little too cautiously on a very wet and slippery opening stage, but after that he flew over the fast and bumpy closed country lanes of Northern Ireland in his Get Connected/Energizer-backed Ford Fiesta WRC. Co-driven by Paul Spooner, Cole couldn’t quite regain all the time he’d lost on the first stage to John Stone (Fiesta WRC), but second place points strengthens his title challenge.

Rally Roll Sees Williams Get An Early Roman Bath

James Williams had an excellent build up to his European Rally Championship debut, enjoying a good test and then setting the fifth fastest class time on the qualifying stage of the Rally di Roma Capitale – but it all unfortunately went downhill from that point onwards. Driving a new Ford Fiesta R2T, the 21-year old Newcastle Emlyn driver had only been three seconds slower than the fastest and more experienced ERC3 driver in qualifying, so he was hopeful of a good run when the rally got underway in the centre of Rome. But it didn’t quite go to plan for Williams and co-driver Tom Woodburn, as they had to stop to change a puncture on the opening stage and then rolled out of the event on stage two.
