Michael Flynn has urged his FA Cup battlers to channel their energies into revitalising their League Two campaign now their knockout journey is over.
The Newport County manager wants his players to enjoy the plaudits for their Cup run – ended on Saturday night with a courageous and rather harsh 4-1 defeat at home at Manchester City – but renew their focus on their league form.
City kept their quadruple hopes alive with at Rodney Parade to reach the quarter-finals. Second-half goals from Leroy Sane, Phil Foden (2) and Riyad Mahrez ensured City’s class eventually told against opponents 82 places below them on the league ladder.
