Llyr Treble Leads Ruthin Town To Alliance Success

Llyr Morris led the way for Ruthin Town in their 4-1 Huws Gray Alliance win against Rhyl.

Ruthin completed the double over Rhyl, while Alliance top scorer Morris took his goals tally for the season to 24 with a hat-trick.

It was the only league game to beat the weather and Ruthin are eighth with three games in hand over the fifth-placed Lillywhites.

Rhyl the short journey South down the A525 to play Ruthin at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Will Owen scored to put Ruthin ahead after eight minutes, while Morris made it 2-0 by half-time.

Rhyl created chances, but could not beat Ruthin goalkeeper Ryan Goldstone, who made several good saves.

Rhys Rowlands, aged 16, made his first team debut for Ruthin Town.

Morris completed his hat-trick, while Rhyl’s consolation was netted by Alun Webb.

Flint Town United won a hard fought Flintshire derby at Airbus Broughton 1-0 thanks to a goal by Ieuan Hewitt goal after 32 minutes. The victory takes Flint into the Huws Gray Cup semi-finals.

There were only two games played, while five league fixtures were postponed.
