Furious Warnock Slams Wolves Boss After Desperate Defeat

Neil Warnock was furious after Cardiff City’s 1-0 Championship defeat against Wolves.

The Bluebirds boss savaged Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo for ‘rubbing my nose in it’ with post-match celebrations.

The Cardiff boss accused the Portuguese of lacking class after Nuno leapt around at the final whistle before shaking hands with his opposite number.

Warnock had seen Cardiff miss two injury time penalties in an incredible finish decided by a brilliant goal from Ruben Neves.

Nuno told Sky Sports he was on his way to apologise to Warnock in his office, but Warnock blasted: “I don’t give a toss.

“I won’t be opening the door to him. He was totally out of order. I went to shake his hand and he ran off.

“That might be okay in Portugal, but this is British football and we don’t do that here. We have ways of behaving. You don’t run off like that and rub someone’s nose in it.

“I don’t care what he said on TV. I’m not interested. It was a lack of class.”

Nono said: “I am very sorry to Neil and I apologise. It is very difficult at the end of the match when you are feeling so emotional.”

The final few minutes of the match were even more heated than the eruptions between the managers.

Neves appeared to have won the game with a brilliant 67th minute free-kick, but in stoppage time both Gary Madine and Junior Hoilett missed penalties.

After Anthony Pilkington had been upended, Madine’s effort was stopped by John Ruddy, before Hoilett struck the top of the bar following a trip on Aron Gunnarsson.
