Welshman Matthew Myers says Great Britain need to produce a consistent 60-minute performance in their World Championship clash with Lithuania in Belfast on Wednesday (tonight, 7.30pm).

Both teams have earned two wins from two matches at the Division One Group B tournament and know this is a crucial fixture in the chase for gold.

“We’ve won two games which is what you want to be in with a chance of winning the tournament,” said Cardiff Devils centre Myers.

“We didn’t play our best hockey in both middle periods of our first two games. We need to address that and come out in all three periods against Lithuania with the intensity we showed in the third against Estonia.

“Lithuania had a good start and it will be a test for us, but we will be a test for them. It will be a good game to play and to watch and if we play the right way, the way we know we can play, then we can come out on top.”

Myers has been on top form in the face-off circle, winning 75 per cent of the draws so far plus chipping in with two assists in the win over Estonia.

“We’ve played a lot better in the third periods and started to get some offence going,” he says. “Personally I don’t care if I don’t get another point or win another face-off as long as our team wins the gold medal.

“If everyone chips in and does their job then we’ll be fine and I am looking forward to being part of that.”

GB have beaten Croatia 4-2 and Estonia 5-1 in their matches at the SSE Arena in Belfast so far and still have to play Lithuania, Netherlands and Japan.
