Glamorgan Sign Tait For T20 Blast

Glamorgan have signed Australian international fast bowler Shaun Tait – six years after his first spell for the county.

Tait, 33, will play for Glamorgan in the second-half of this season’s NatWest  T20 Blast tournament, in effect the last seven matches of the group stages and beyond if the team progresses.

The county are still trying to secure another overseas signing for the first half of the competition.

Tait was picked to play for Australia in the International T20 Series against India earlier this year and previously enjoyed a Twenty20 spell with Glamorgan in 2010.

He appeared in the Pakistan T20 Super League for Peshawar Zalmi last month and his recall to the Australia national set-up came off the back of some hostile spells in the most recent edition of the Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes.

Last season Tait played for Essex in the NatWest T20 Blast, including two impressive performances against Glamorgan in the Group stage, taking 3-28 in Cardiff and 3-33 in Chelmsford, to help the Eagles pip the Welsh county to a qualifying spot in the knockout stages.

Chief Executive Hugh Morris has backed the new recruit and the extra firepower he will bring to the Glamorgan attack for the seven games at the end of the group stages of the competition.

“We believe we have a very competitive team and as one of the fastest bowlers in the world Shaun will add a cutting edge to our attack,” said Morris

“We are also in negotiations with another overseas player for the first half of the NatWest T20 Blast and hope to make an announcement in the coming weeks.”
