Kayleigh’s Cracker Wins World Cup Clash For Wales

Kayleigh Green scored Wales’ winner to extend their unbeaten record in World Women’s Cup.

Their 1-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica means Wales stay top of Group One with three wins and a draw in four games.

Yeovil Town forward Green, a former Cardiff City player, scored the only goal after 58 minutes, while goalkeeper Laura O’Sullivan played a crucial role.

O’Sullivan, who also plays for Yeovil, saved a Bosnian penalty after 84 minutes.

Green punished Bosnia when they missed opportunities to clear and she went round goalkeeper Almina Hodzix to score.

The hosts were awarded a penalty when Alma Kameric, was fouled but O’Sullivan saved from Milena Nikolic.

Wales lead qualifying group one with 10 points from four games, four ahead of England, who play Kazakhstan later today (Tuesday).

The outstanding O’Sullivan, who has kept four World Cup clean sheets, made a big save from a long-range effort, while Wales were denied a first half penalty when Rachel Rowe appeared to be fouled.

Wales will go into the new year unbeaten and their next fixture is against England in Southampton during April.

Manager Jayne Ludlow and her Welsh team have four fixtures left in the group: England v Wales (Friday, April 6); Wales v Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tuesday, June 7), Wales v Russia (Tuesday, June 12), Wales v England (Friday, August 31).
