Evan Hoyt returns to Llanelli when he has chance to pass on tips to upcoming players

Trebles All Round For Evan Hoyt In Scotland As He Bags Another Doubles Title

Evan Hoyt landed his third ITF World Tour doubles title on the year in Scotland.

The Welshman was partnered to victory in the $25,000 Glasgow tournament by fellow Brit Luke Johnson against the American Tom Fawcett and Alexander Ritschard.

The British pairing set off at a furious pace in the final on Saturday, cruising to victory in the first set 6-1.

The second set was a much closer affair with the Americans fighting back to force a tie-break at 6-6.

But Hoyt and Johnson proved too strong in the end, winning the tie-break and clinching the title in straight sets 6-1, 7-6.

This is the duo’s second doubles title success in the space of a week, having won the $25,000 tournament in Barnstaple.

They have now won their last eight matches and 10 out of their last 11. Hoyt also won the doubles title in Tunisia earlier this year, partnered by Tunisian Skander Mansouri.

Earlier in the day, Hoyt missed out on a place in the men’s final in Glasgow when he took on Germany’s Jeremy Jahn.
Jahn took the initiative in the semi-final as he claimed the first set 6-4.

But the Llanelli product hit back in the second set, taking it to a tie break, which he won to two points.

However, the German kicked on to claim the deciding set and set up a final appearance against Antoine Escoffier, of France, who defeated Britain’s Jack Draper in the other semi-final.
