Leicester’s George Parker won the Welsh Open title in straight games at Rhiwbina Squash Club.
Parker, 21, had to qualify for the Rhiwbina PSA $10,000 World Tour Tournament final in Cardiff.
He swept into the main draw and dropped only two games in four matches during the main tournament, beating top seed Joshua Masters 3-0 and teenager Patrick Rooney, the eighth seed, in the final.
Leicester’s Parker, who plays out of the West Warwicks Club in the English midlands, won a hard fought first game 11-7 before clinching the Rhiwbina title 11-3, 11-3.
Big-hitting Parker is a former World number 75, but is currently at 170.
It was a highly successful week of squash at Rhiwbina SRC with sell-out attendances attracted for the later rounds.
Rhiwbina’s own Peter Creed reached the semi-finals before going out.
