Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run Returns For 2018

The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run will return in 2018 to give thousands of runners a unique challenge at Wales’ fastest growing 10K race.

Around 6,000 runners will take-on an unchanged course around the Welsh capital’s historic Bay on 25 March, 2018. Spaces are expected to sell-out for the second year running for the flat, fast and friendly event suitable for all ages and abilities.

Brecon Carreg have come on board as title sponsor to support a second event in the brand-new Run 4 Wales 10K Series alongside the recently revealed Brecon Carreg Barry Island 10K and ABP Newport Wales 10K.

The water brand, synonymous with Wales’ leading mass-participation events, will continue to promote and support active lifestyles across South Wales and beyond.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Run 4 Wales at the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run. 2018 will see the brand celebrating its 40th anniversary and this event will form part of the celebrations. Running events are a fantastic opportunity to encourage and inspire adults and children to do a fun and healthy activity together.” said Jenna Bissell, Marketing Manager Brecon Carreg.

Run 4 Wales Chief Executive Matt Newman said: “The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run has become one of the most popular events on the Run 4 Wales calendar, offering runners a perfect opportunity to take-on their first 10K or set a new personal best on an iconic course around the Bay.

“The popular race will kickoff the Run 4 Wales 10K series in 2018. Keen runners now have the opportunity to take on a trio unique events in three of South Wales’ most iconic settings, and we are looking forward to delivering another year of first class running events.”

The route takes in all of Cardiff Bay’s most iconic landmarks, starting and finishing in Roald Dahl Plass and passing the Wales Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Pierhead Building, Senedd, Porth Teigr and the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

It’s a perfect challenge for elite and club athletes as well as those looking to keep fit, raise money for charity or take on the challenge of their first event. Race entries go on sale on Tuesday before 1,000 season tickets are released on Thursday.

Official Lead Charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, will again offer the chance to take-on 10K for a great cause. The UK’s leading CF charity, who raise more money for vital research into cystic fibrosis than any other UK organisation, are giving Team CF runners a number of exclusive benefits including interactive training plans, merchandise and on the day support.
