Holywell Town are second in the Huws Gray Alliance table after a 3-0 win at Gresford Athletic.
They took advantage of Caernarfon Town, who were playing in the JD Welsh Cup, to move closer to the leaders.
“The group are getting stronger every week and there is a great buzz around the team at the moment,” said manager John Haseldin.
Gresford’s Clappers Lane stadium hasn’t been a good place to go over the past couple of seasons for the Wellmen, but they earned a convincing victory on this visit.
Steve Thomas opened the scoring after seven minutes, beating the offside trap to go one on one with the keeper before shooting home.
Soon after Thomas was fouled in the penalty area and Sam Jones made no mistake from the penalty spot.
The Wellmen kept pressing, but could not add to their tally until the 88th minute when Steve Lewis scored to wrap the game up and earn the three points.
“It was a fantastic away performance,” said Haseldin. “We dominated from start to finish and should have scored a few more goals.”
Holywell welcome bottom of the table Llandudno junction to Halkyn Road on Saturday (2.30pm).
Rhyl are through the Huws Gray Cup semi-final after a 7-0 victory at Llandudno Junction.
The Lilywhites produced a stylish attacking display to reach the final four and manager Matthew Jones’ side will look to continue their positive momentum when they host Penrhyncoch on Saturday (2.30pm).
Rhyl made a strong start and went ahead on seven minutes when a Tom Hartley free-kick went past goalkeeper Ryan Woods.
They doubled their advantage just before the break when referee Cheryl Foster pointed to the spot after Alun Webb had been fouled and Stewart Carroll scored from the spot.
Alun Webb made it 3-0 (53 mins), while new signing James Murphy marked his first start with a finish from close range.
The outstanding Murphy fired his second on 64 minutes after good approach play from Phil Marsh and Danny Holland and the former Newtown player completed his hat-trick after 77 minutes.
Murphy was far from finished and scored his fourth of the match after good work by Sam Downey.
The Lilywhites sent a near full strength squad to Junction Alun Webb and Ben Collins returning.
