Greg Halford will train with Cardiff City for the last time this morning.
The former Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United player, aged 33, said: “Everything comes to an end eventually.
“It has been a complete honour and a privilege to play for such a big club and put on that shirt for the past 18 months.”
Essex-born Halford has described Cardiff’s promotion-winning season as one of the ‘best highlights’ of his 16-years football career.
He made 28 appearances for the Bluebirds.
Halford said: “Today’s training session will be my last. I’ve had the most amazing time with everybody associated with the club, but everything comes to an end eventually.
“It’s been a complete honour and privilege to play for such a big club and put on that short for the last 18 months. Last season was one of the best highlights of my career, winning promotion to the Premier League.”
Manager Neil Warnock must decide on a 25-man Premier League squad before the Premier League season starts and he has some tough decisions to make.
He has decided not to play his first team plays against Taffs Well on Friday because the pitch is not in condition because of the hot weather and a ban on watering the pitch.
“It’s not Taffs Well’s fault,” said City manager Neil Warnock. “They are victims of the weather.
“But we will still put out a competitive team.”
