Five-year-old Trixster, a 5-2 chance, took the Penguin Pay Maiden Hurdle by three lengths from the favourite Pontresina.
Seven-year-old Canton Prince, who was burdened with top weight of 12 stone, won the Ignite Incentives Handicap Hurdle, beating the favourite Voodoo Doll trained by neighbouring trainer Evan Williams and ridden by Williams’s daughter Isabel, by three lengths.
Canton Prince went off at odds of 13-2 and both winners were ridden by champion jockey Richard Johnson, who also won the opening Novices’ Hurdle on the Olly Murphy trained General Custard.
Crickhowell-born Nigel Twiston-Davies took the Colliers International ratings services handicap chase with the top-weighted Templehills ridden by his son nSam Twiston-Davies.
